<p>First, knowing how to rank in search engines starts with understanding what one’s branding is trying to accomplish. It’s surprising to see how many business owners do not really understand their basic conversion points. The foundation of a well thought out local internet marketing campaign is the 1-3 main conversion points that every business is trying to get their target market to funnel into. It’s from this pivotal point that a business owner can then develop a strong inbound marketing strategy.</p>
<p>Second, developing a content strategy that captures readers into a marketing funnel is imperative to growth. Depending upon one’s industry the average business needs to be developing 3-5 articles a week based upon long tail keywords that constitute the highest click volume. One can use a tool like semrush.com to find out which long tail keywords get searched the most for their industry.  Develop a strategy that pushes out 3-5 articles per week until the specific long tail keywords under a main conversion point have been exhausted.</p>
<p>Third, link build through local citations to specific landing pages for each area of one’s business focus. If a business focuses on three different areas develop three pages that focus on each area with unique content. Make sure each page has a unique address and phone number. After one’s landing pages have been developed they need to develop a business Google plus page and build citations on popular directories suggested by getlisted.org and yext.com.  It’s important to match the name, address, and phone number exactly within all the directory listings, otherwise Google might get confused and place a business lower on the local map listings or not at all.</p>

I have to admit we&#8217;ve tried everything from black hat SEO techniques to the most white hat you can get. I want to cover a few secrets about our own SEO strategies that can help you rank keywords faster while developing a strong brand name for your business.</p>
<h2>Internet Marketing&#8217;s End Goal: To make Money or To Bring Value to the Table?</h2>
<p>One of our companies assets is a high ranking <strong><a title="Auto Loans" href="http://www.completeautoloans.com/">Auto Loans</a></strong> affiliate website. This was my first baby in the affiliate world and as most firstborns go you tend to make the most mistakes on the first one. One of the biggest struggles has been to balance the goals that really matter into a strategy that makes consumers excited about our brand or service. While the end goal is for a business to make money it&#8217;s easy to jump ahead and think that, &#8220;if I just build more links I&#8217;ll rank for that keyterm.&#8221; The reality is that good SEO is not about outsourcing your content or your back-linking to someone who claims they will get you to #1 for your keyword. Most SEO strategies fall under this category&#8230; believe me&#8230; I&#8217;ve been there.</p>
<h2>What Strategies Really Work?</h2>
<p>Well, let&#8217;s look at both strategies. Black hat SEO&#8217;s motive is to purely &#8220;game&#8221; the search engine while <strong>white hat SEO </strong>focuses more on developing content that people find useful and back-link to.</p>
<p><strong>Does black hat SEO work? </strong>Well, the reality is there&#8217;s a lot of black hat SEO tactics out there that are helping affiliates make a killing. I was just talking on the phone with a competitor the other day who has a friend ranking for <a title="Online Payday Loans" href="http://www.completemoneyloans.com/payday-loans/"><strong>Online Payday Loans</strong></a> #1 organic position. The average consensus is that&#8217;s at $12,000 a day profit to him. So, that&#8217;s the good side. The bad side is that black hat SEO will always fall under the radar of Google search algorithms  which means if black hats want to keep their rankings they will need to adjust their strategies eventually.</p>

I like to correlate white hat SEO practices with corporate SEO. Big corporations must do white hat SEO to maintain rankings as their websites are constantly under the radar of Google. For smaller businesses who can&#8217;t afford someone to &#8220;prune links&#8221; for $150-$300 per hour there&#8217;s other strategies that can help them dominate through internet marketing.</p>
<h2>Here&#8217;s Five Rules For Developing A Quality SEO Campaign</h2>
<ol>
<li><strong>Your first goal should be to develop a strong brand that provides high quality products </strong>- Big corporations live off of their branding not their back-links. While back-links and keyword rankings support one&#8217;s brand, attaining number 1 position for online payday loans does not constitute a business with a long lasting brand. If that company loses their #1 position they&#8217;d be forgotten in a day unless they&#8217;ve developed their branding.</li>
<li><strong>A brand is a vision or goal for your business that works into a high quality content strategy </strong>-  High quality content is the<strong> <a title="Link Bait" href="http://www.fannit.com/link-baiting/">link-bait</a></strong> your business needs to get the eyeballs of your potential customers.</li>
<li><strong>Develop a high quality website structure that is motivated to convert humans first while providing high quality content for search engines - </strong>Don&#8217;t forget that your high quality content needs to drive your customers to a strong conversion point. Remember, people will get confused really fast if your website does not funnel them to where you want them to go.</li>
<li><strong>Take your brand&#8217;s vision into a 6 month inbound marketing strategy that strengthens your most popular product or service</strong> - Having a unified voice across all forms of <a title="Internet Marketing" href="http://www.fannit.com/internet-marketing/"><strong>internet marketing</strong></a> will not only help you be more organized in your campaign for customers but will help your target market better understand what you actually offer.</li>
<li><strong>This is the most important step: You need to link build to everything by tiers &#8211;  </strong>We build our back-links by three tiers. Each tier has a function to back-linking juice but also to developing branding.

<li>First we develop tier 1 back-links &#8211; Tier one focuses on high quality web 2.0 content that controls the branding of keywords on the front page with high ranking web 2.0 assets. This tier is purely for high quality links, human conversion, and brand reputation management. This tier links to our money pages. <strong><a title="How To Write a Press Release" href="http://www.fannit.com/how-to-press-release/">Press Release Content</a></strong> can be a good first tier strategy.</li>
<li>Our second tier of back-links is more about supporting our first tier of links less of a focus on web 2.0 assets and more of a focus on other forms of back-linking as well. This tier will mainly back-link to first tier with some going to our money pages.</li>
<li>Our third tier only support our second and third tier links. These are the lowest quality of back-links but are the easiest to attain. We use first tier as a lens to filter out any bad links to our money pages. You&#8217;re probably wondering if this would affect your first tier pages. Because your first tier has such high domain authority and trust any low quality links will not affect that page so your money site looks like it only has really high quality links pointing to it.</li>

<p>So, our overall strategy on the front end looks like high quality content that builds a strong brand between our money site and tier one back-links but we utilize 2nd and 3rd tier back-links to quicken the keyword ranking process overall. We see this as a very balanced approach to SEO as we stay beneath the radar of Google while still power-housing keywords to the top positions through good on-site, content, and a strong link-building structure.</p>
